Day 1: Colombo Arrival-Chilaw-Dambulla

Meet on arrival and proceed to Chilaw (1 ½ hours)
The Munneswaram Kovil close to Chilaw is one of the 5 major Shiva temples of Sri Lanka and Rameswaram islands. According to a Tamil legend, the temple is situated at a place where King Rama prayed to Shiva after killing Ravana. Rama stopped the Vimana vehicle at Munneswaram to pray to Lord Shiva asking for a remedy. Shiva advised Rama to install four lingams at Manavari, Trinco, Mannar and Rameswaram for this purpose.
Manavari, about 6 kms north of Chilaw, is the first place where Lord Rama installed a Lingam, as a remedy to Lord Shiva after committing Brahmincide by killing the King Ravana who was a Brahmin. This Shiva Lingam in Manavari is called Ramalingam because it was made by Lord Rama. There are only two Lingams in the world named after Lord Rama, the other is in Rameswaram in India.

The Dambulla Cave Temple, also known as Jambukola Viharaya is a World Heritage Site and is the largest, preserved cave temple complex in the country. These caves contain statues and paintings that chronicle Lord Buddha and his life. There are 153 Lord Buddha statues, 3 statues of Sri Lankan Kings and 4 statues of Gods and goddesses found here.

Day 2: DAMBULLA – TRINCOMALEE - DAMBULLA (150 KM/Approx 5 Hrs Journey)
Transfer from Dambulla to Trincomalee (02 hours)
Thiru Koneswaram is a wonderful temple located on a rock promontory of Trincomalee. It was built by Rishi Agastya on the instructions of Lord Shiva who was impressed by the devotion of King Ravana. Lord Rama is believed to have offered his prayers here, too, in order to get rid of Brahmahasthi Dosham.
Adjacent to Trincomalee’s famous Koneswaram temple there is another shrine called Shankari Devi temple is a reconstruction at a new place. The original Shankari Devi temple, said to be built by Ravana, was the first in the list of Ashta Dasha (18) Shakti Pitas written down by Adi Shankara, but its whole cliff was destroyed by Portuguese cannon balls. Only a pillar for commemoration is placed on that spot now. And it is believed that the original idol of the Goddess has been preserved and replaced, being venerated now in this nearby new Shankari Devi temple.
Transfer from Trincomalee to Dambulla (02 hours) En route visit Hot Water Springs in Kannia (10 KM)
The hot wells of Kanniya are about 10 kms from Trincomalee town. Pilgrims believe that they have healing powers. These Hot Water wells & their connection is with Ravana & his Mother’s last rites. The temperature of the water is different in all the seven wells.

Day 3: DAMBULLA – SIGIRIYA - KANDY (150 KM/Approx 5 Hrs Journey)
Transfer from Dambulla to Sigiriya (15 min)
Sri Lanka’s most popular historic site, Sigiriya is the 5th century rock citadel of King Kasyapa. This 200 meters citadel was home to his palace on top of the rock and derives its name as it appears to resemble the outline of a lion from distance. King Kasyapa built his palace and decorated its walls with colorful frescoes which can even be seen today. These frescoes, along with India¿s Ajantha cave frescoes are world renowned for lasting through the ages and their awe-inspiring beauty. When you climb along the side of the rock, about halfway up, you will encounter a gateway that although in ruins, resembles a gigantic lions paw. Today, Sigiriya is a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site and remains as one of the best examples of ancient urban planning in Sri Lanka.

Day 4: KANDY – RAMBODA - NUWARAELIYA (150 KM/Approx 5 Hrs Journey)
Transfer from Kandy to Nuwaraeliya (5 Hrs)
The World Heritage Site, Kandy, was the last capital of the Sri Lankan Kings, before the country was brought under British rule in 1815. The Temple of the Tooth Relic is the most significant highlight of the city along with the Kandy lake, the town and other attractions. Visit the Kandy Town and Bazaar, the arts & crafts centre.

Day 5: NUWARAELIYA - BENTOTA
Transfer from Nuwaraeliya-Bentota (5 Hrs)
This place is believed to be the place where Sita lived most of the time of her captivity on the island of Sri Lanka. It was here that Ravana’s wife Mandodari visited her and Hanuman Ji also met her for the first time. Sita is said to have bathed in the nearby stream here. There are remarkable holes in the rocks on the river bank believed to be footprints of Lord Hamunan.

Day 6: BENTOTA- MIRISSA- GALLE- BENTOTA

Transfer from Bentota to Galle (02 hours)
Rumassala hill 3 kms east of Galle is the landmark of Unuwatuna beach because of the picturesque white Buddhist dagoba on top of it. Rumassala rock is one of the five Sri Lankan spots believed to originate from parts of Mount Dronagiri. They fell down when Hanuman carried the Dronagiri on his flight back to Lanka in order to use its Sanjiwani herb to rescue Lakhshmana. Rumassala is also said to be an abode of Sita during her stay in Lanka.
Galle city remains the best example of a fortified city built by the Portuguese during their period in the country. The Galle Fort, today, is a world heritage site and the most important landmark in the city. The Dutch Museum and the Dutch Church are two other significant attractions.

Day 7: BENTOTA – BALAPITIYA – KOSGODA - COLOMBO
Transfer from Bentota to Balapitiya (45mns) – Enjoy River Safari
Balapitiya is the nearest town to the Maduganga River which is famous for its mangroves and endemic flora and fauna.
Transfer from Balapitiya to Kosgoda (30mns) – Visit Turtle Hatchery
Kosgoda is a small village located in the west coast of Sri Lanka. It is most popular for its sea turtle hatcheries, operated by the Wildlife Protection Society of Sri Lanka.
Transfer from Kosgoda to Colombo (02 hours) Do a City & Shopping tour of Colombo
The 100 year old clock tower built by the British and some colonial buildings. The Independence Square, Nelum Pokuna, Pettah Bazaar and BMICH are some of the main highlights of the city. Colombo also provides ample entertainment in terms of an active night life as well as a shopping experience you’d never forget.
